The Journey to Caregiving

Sarah's journey into caregiving began close to home. After helping care for her grandmother who was diagnosed with early-stage dementia, Sarah realized she had a natural gift for providing comfort and maintaining a sense of dignity for those struggling with cognitive decline.

"I saw firsthand how much of a difference a patient, understanding presence made for my grandmother," Sarah shares. "It wasn't just about making sure she took her medication or ate her meals; it was about sitting with her, listening to her stories, and making her feel safe when the world felt confusing."

A Day in the Life

As a CNA with Dream Living Support Services, Sarah's days are dynamic but always rooted in routine and reliability. She specializes in Dementia Care, which requires a unique blend of clinical knowledge and emotional intelligence.

"Every client is different," Sarah explains. "With dementia clients, you have to meet them where they are that day. If they think it's 1985, I'm in 1985 with them. We listen to music from their era, look at old photos, and focus on what brings them joy in that specific moment."
